Dave Yawman
Partner, Cresco Partners
Dave is an experienced leader who has worked closely with C-suite leaders, Board members, General Counsel and other executives. He has a proven track record of leading and developing highly effective global teams and executives.
Dave is currently a partner at Cresco Partners, a leadership and team development company, and a senior advisor to Barker Gilmore LLP, a legal and compliance recruiting and advisory services firm. Dave joined Cresco in June 2021 and Barker Gilmore in March 2022, and he works with leaders and teams to improve their effectiveness and unleash their full potential.
Until March 2021, Dave served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at PepsiCo, a Fortune 50 company. After obtaining his law degree from Rutgers Law School, Dave started his legal career in the U.S. Federal Court and at a Wall Street law firm (Fried Frank). In 1998, Dave moved in-house and spent 22+ years at PepsiCo, rising from an entry-level legal position to become General Counsel. As General Counsel, Dave worked closely with the Board of Directors, CEO, C-Suite executives, and leaders and teams at all levels, to help shape PepsiCo’s business strategy and corporate culture. He gained significant public company, operating division and international experience leading a team of 600+ global colleagues in the law, compliance & ethics, public policy and government affairs departments across the 200+ countries in which PepsiCo operates. He worked with the Board on a CEO succession and a wide range of other complex issues. During his “career within a company,” Dave developed a deep knowledge of global markets, organizational structure, law and public policy in support of business growth while managing risk. Dave also leveraged his “EQ” to develop insights about leadership and corporate/team culture, and he became an impactful internal voice on both topics, well beyond his role as General Counsel. At PepsiCo, Dave was known for his steadying presence and balanced style, and he led his team in the mode of a servant leader. His core value comes from knowing what it takes to be an effective business leader – to positively influence organizational culture through a commitment to principled leadership and to collaborate cross-functionally to make tough calls on nuanced, business-critical issues.
Leveraging his experience and belief that organizations thrive or falter based on the quality and effectiveness of their people and carrying out his longstanding plan to have a second career centered on people, Dave stepped away from his successful legal career and joined Cresco Partners in June 2021 to focus on coaching and developing high-performance leaders and teams. In joining Cresco, Dave reunited with his college baseball teammate at the University of Notre Dame, Mike Moshier (Cresco’s Founder). Dave and Mike have long shared the core values of lifelong learning, growth and people. Dave later became a senior advisor to BarkerGilmore to leverage his professional legal and compliance experience to help others.
Outside of work, Dave is committed to giving back to the community through volunteer and pro bono work, which also provided him additional leadership opportunities to chair two separate boards of directors (the United Way of Westchester & Putnam Counties (NY) and the Pro Bono Partnership) comprised of peers and community leaders. Dave and his wife, Margaret, have been married for over 29 years and raised their four children in Sleepy Hollow, NY, where they still reside.
